Gilbert was contacted and before anything, asked to bring his own staff in

This is the only thing I doubt. Coordinators don’t have staffs—head coaches do. There’s just no way that Gilbert, at this point in his career, actually thought he had the juice to ask for that. I don’t know. Not that it really matters all that much at this point.

Most people know that Gilbert loves his Oline coach and would want to bring him with him

unless he already knew he didnt want to play in the briar patch. If I were about to enter a den of thieves, I'd want at least 1 person who could watch my back.

Figure he doesnt want to seem ungrateful or make this about money, so he makes an awkward, but not completely unreasonable request...knowing full well we already replaced Grimes. He gets his 'no' and everything in Gilbert's world goes back to normal with no backlash. Smart play by him all around

I don't know. A good coordinator knows what it takes to properly implement his system. If he thinks he needs a coach or two that understands the ins and outs of the offense, it's a reasonable request.

Sounds about right. I live in Bama and we’ve been the laughing stock of the SEC all year. It’s gonna get a lot worse before it gets better. Long bumpy ride

Coordinators usually have a say in who they want as the position coaches.
