Without precedent? They had a big doping system going on.

Good.

if any Russian athletes are given permission to attend, they won’t be competing under the Russian flag. They’ll compete under a neutral flag, and any medals they win won’t be credited to Russia.

This is odd though. Not sure how I feel about it.

So cheaters are being punished? This is a bad thing?

It sounds more like an unprecedented move.

IOC worried about doping, but not about ruining the economy of a country like Brazil, who employed essentially slave labor. Sweet.

Good. Too bad they didn't do a better job back in the old Soviet Union days when all the female athletes looked like dudes and the dudes looked like mutant gods from Olympus.

Court of Arbitration for Sport, huh. Sounds like the court a lot of American lawsuits should use.

The Russian doping scheme was the most sophisticated and elaborate ever uncovered in sport. I'd say an unprecedented punishment, if it even holds, is warranted. Russian athletes who weren't banned at last year's summer games (I think over 1/3 were banned) were widely disrespected by their peers.

No one likes a cheater.
