That's a statewide attitude especially towards corruption. Stop electing officials based on race, personality, family name, and whether or not they can tell a good story. You'll see some changes then.

Yep, you’re right. It’s definitely a statewide issue. But the downside to being the most well-known city in the state (which New Orleans people love to point out, and it’s obviously true) is that you also tend to become the poster child for problems like local political corruption.
