Go your arse to VA. Nice state, got nothing against 'em. Lived up there when my dad was stationed at the Pentagon. I've lived multiple places in the South. Virginia. Mississippi. Alabama. My wife was born in South Carolina. My in-laws live in North Carolina.
The South has a rich culture. Texas is something else, though. Parts of Texas resemble the South, of course, but as a whole? Not even close. Texan culture is an extremely unique amalgamation, not sufficiently encapsulated by the passe designation "South."
It is what it is. You don't have to like it, but you must accept it.

So, is your argument that the South is only the Southeast?

East Texas is just as southern as the Fla Panhandle

Bruh, you stood up in here in front of all of us and tried to make the argument that not only Texas, but New Mexico and Arizona are part of the South
You need to go to bed.

I didn't make any arguments. I simply posted a link. It's on you to read it and counter the points, if you want to argue it, but of course, nobody will do that, because it's easier for you to just downvote and move along.

Here in America, when people refer to "the South", they're almost always talking about the Southeast. San Diego is in the south by that definition but you won't find many people including it as part of "the South".

I don't go on fool's errands. If you truly think that Oklahoma and Arizona are part of the South, you have issues, son

The South Mississippi flatlands don't resemble the North Carolina mountains, so which one isn't the South?

Do you think San Diego, New Mexico, and Arizona share a culture that make up the Southwest?

Ayo, don't go acting like Las Cruces, NM, ain't just as Southern as Jackson, MS.
Just downvote and move along, gringo

Was talking culture, not topography.
Swing and a miss. Try again.

Never lived in San Diego but I've lived in AZ. There is definitely a SW culture that is completely distinct from the South. Is this even a debate?

I see no resemblance in the culture in Atlanta, Georgia, and the small towns of Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee, etc, other than demographics, which one isn't the South?
Posted on 11/16/17 at 9:41 pm to northshorebamaman
The frick is wrong with y’all talking about Arizona? It’s like Beetlejuice, say “Arizona” three times and nurse will show up and talk about how happy she is that Scottsdale isn’t the “South” because anything associated with Baton Rouge is shitty.

The Southwest culture and the Southeast culture are nearly identical aside from the land they live on, I don't know why this is so hard for people to understand. If the argument is transplants, welp, that elimantes Atlanta, Georgia and New Orleans from ever being Southern.

She already posted in this thread about Arizona.

Good lord. Arizona has more in common with CA than GA.

Then you aren't very observant
I told you, man, I've LIVED in these locales. The Southern culture as conventionally thought of by most Americans is a pretty distinctly common thread throughout the region.
That thread breaks up dramatically in the state of Texas. It's not up for debate. Texan culture easily trumps Southern culture here.
Give up this foolish quest, my friend.

Oh Jesus you did not just say that.
Wow.
