in your own link

quote:

Meanwhile, an alternative Republican gun bill by Chuck Grassley and Ted Cruz that would have provided funding for gun-crime prosecutions, school safety, and mental health — but placed no new restrictions on gun ownership — was killed by a Democratic-led filibuster. That amendment received 52 votes, not enough to move forward.

Liar. You own link says the democrat filibuster defeated it. You whine about republicans not doing anything but offer prayer. I am showing you something republicans tried to do. Dems stopped it.

Just like you, Dems don't really care about people...hey care about a narrative. Your rhetoric is empty and you got caught lying in this thread.

You are pathetic.

ETA: I see SFP already destroyed you and exposed your lies.

So Democrats would rather nothing than something? If it isn't exactly what they want they filibuster. Thank you for proving my point. Sicko.

the article you posted notes that the DEMs, not GOP, filibustered the Cruz-Grasserly bill

that is the bill that BBonds and myself spoke of

what the hell does a GOP filibuster of a different bill have to do with anything?

*ETA: your original response

quote:

Ted Cruz had a bill that made buying a gun as a domestic violence offender lead to a prison sentence?

yes

and per YOUR OWN LINK, it was filibustered by the DEMs

the GOP filibustered a different bill

God is not a genie beholden to anyone who lays claim to the magic lamp. It's not about "being enough". People aren't praying because they think that's how all of the world's problems are solved, as if God works entirely outside of the means of humanity for all things. They are praying to show solidarity with the victims and their families. They are praying to help themselves cope with the tragedy. They are praying that God gives comfort to those affected by this terrible thing. They are praying for a change of heart and conversion for the evil people in the world that would want to do these sorts of awful things. The reason this is an issue is because prayer, itself, is under attack by those who want to minimize its importance to so many people. In their zeal to make themselves feel important, many are attacking those who say they are praying for not doing enough to show they really care, as if prayer isn't important at all and should be discarded entirely. Often times there isn't anything people can do except pray.

Dude there is no Big Gigantic overseer or God.

I’m sure democrats respect prayers if they are said from a prayer rug facing Mecca.

Praying is vastly more effective than any gun-control legislation.

You have some stats to back that up?

That sounds like such a gotcha, but then on one side of the scale are tens of thousands of deaths by people who illegally own firearms. What have you got on your side of the scale?

An atheist shoots up a church and libs think belittling Christians in a backhanded way is best thing to do. Oh no, we can't have people behaving like humans do in a caring community by thinking of and praying for one another(unless it is Muslim prayers, bigot).

The GOP filibuster was of the real bill. The Cruz bill was an alternative to this real bill, had no chance of passing, and your pretending like it did is a lie.

Then why did dems have to filibuster? If it had no chance of passing like you claim? Liar.

My side of the scale? I made no baseless claims (or clames).

Because they had a real bill on the floor, one that didn't trade a slightly stronger background check for substantially weaker interstate sale laws.

No. You said the Cruz bill, which you were ignorant of, had no chance of passing. How many votes did it get? Why would the Dems need to filibuster a bill that had no chance of passing?

Fact is. Dems filibustered a bill that would have prevented the shooting in Texas.

It didn't. They had a bill that didn't have the poison pill of weakening interstate sales, and Cruz attempted to torpedo that with his amendment.
