The so-called "experts" on the Rant says he sucks, so he must suck. That is a bullshite article.

The idiot posted: "fourth, I said – in both quarterback rating and yards per pass attempt"

The Rant "experts" are never wrong, that is a bullshite article with no facts what-so-ever to back it up.

Don't try to talk good about LSU or an LSU player because if you do we all know it is BS. Thank you in advance !!!

LSU will not win one game the rest of the season and better enjoy it.

He's a game manager. Nothing more, nothing less. He's not going to win the game for you, but he won't lose it for you either.

He will however, give you 110% on every play and his willingness to give that 110% regardless of the score can be infectious to other players. Danny leads this team not with his abilities but rather with his heart.

He will never be a hall of fame LSU player, but I'm damn proud to have him on the team.

Nope. I love Danny for his heart but his lack of arm and speed when scrambling is not what you mention.

Impressive he has as many incompletions as he does since most dudes would take sacks instead of extending the play as often as he does

quote:

Last year, Etling threw the ball 20 yards or further downfield on 19.5 percents of his passes, the second-highest rate of any quarterback in the SEC, according to PFF College. But Etling wasn't especially effective on those throws; his 31.9 percent completion rate on such attempts ranked ninth in the conference. This year, Etling is still taking shots downfield at roughly the same rate he did a year ago (19.5 percent, 2nd in the SEC), but his accuracy has improved to 53.3 percent.

Chark has reeled in a shite load of deep ones. Contested balls? He wins them. That’s the difference between this year and last...

What if I told you DJ chark has zero receiving touchdowns on the year?

We won. Florida game he looked terrible. Better in the Auburn game but we should have lost. Auburn DB dropped a pass a 4 y/o could have caught that would have sealed the victory for them. He plays tough but skill set is MAC conference at best.

Jet sweeps, special team play and WR's making great catches and taking the ball out of DB's grasp is what has scored our points. Defense played great in second half of Auburn game. Happy we won but, we do not have one of the SEC's best quarterbacks.

DE needs to make quicker decisions and be more accurate. If he does these 2 things we have a good chance in any ball game.

WoW! watched the last game and i have to disagree. He was bailed out last game by the Wr's and missed some easy passes. No one questions his leadership and his willingness to take a hit but to me his Football IQ is not that good. Sorry but that is the truth. I hope to eat some crow pie at the end of the season by him proving me wrong but he has had two season of starting and is still wildly inconsistent.

My only issue with Danny is that he is situationally challenged at times. It could be 3rd and 7 and he throws a 3 yard pass; Other than that, the kid has heart!

Honestly, if you look at Etling's stats, it tells quite a positive story about him:

84/142, 59.2%, 1252 yards, 7 TDs, 1 INT

At the end of the day, a 60% completion rate while only throwing 1 pick is exactly what you want out of a QB.

My only knock on Etling is that he takes too long to go through his progressions if his primary receiver isn't open. That has led to some unnecessary sacks and scramble/throwaways. On paper, he's only been sacked 12 times, which isn't terrible. But he's also abandoned the pocket early, only to scramble for a yard or two.

Otherwise, the dude is a gamer. For years, LSU fans have said that all they want is a QB who is a game manager and a legitimate passing threat. Etling is both.

Danny has the ability to make football decisions that put LSU in winning opportunities. His drive and want to win moves the team in a direction of victory. It is that reason I would have him ride the pine behind Jordan Jefferson if I we're still the coach of the team.

I like Danny, but for some reason, I always get a laugh when people call him "noodle arm."

This a great example where stats don’t tell the real story.

the article is comparing qb's within their team system. in that regard, i can see how etling might be 4th best. it's weird because the receivers have had crucial drops but, they've bailed him out A LOT which i'm sure is true of every team though. plus he got that 50/50 ball against fla. easy dropped int against auburn. it seems like the times receivers have bailed him out have been on long passes which changes the dynamic tremendously.

i guess my take is he's clearly regressed because he's missing relatively easy passes that he's made in the past, even earlier this season. however, within the context of the offense and in comparison to other teams, he's doing a yeoman's job.

I know he tries hard, but he’s terrible. He came really close to losing the Florida game for us on his own. Being one of the better QB’s in the SEC is not much of an accomplishment these days apparently.

Are we going to start praising Jordan Jefferson next?

The problem with Danny Etling is that he is a 5th year senior with starting experience in the Big 10 and Sec. At this point he shouldn't be holding the ball as long as he do, he shouldn't leave the pocket as quick as he does, and he should know all of his reads. He makes these mistakes more times than one would like and there's no excuse for it. It's not like he's a freshman. And it's all things he can control.
