Has it been considered to allow Ala/Tenn and Aub/Ga to keep their permanent cross divisional game and allow the rest to rotate? Would that be too hard or unfair somehow?

You don't need to do any of this. Get rid of permanent opponents across the divisions. They can still play each other outside of the conference if they'd like.

I'm pretty sure the Pac-12 does this, with the California schools (2 in each division) all playing each other every year, but no other permanent cross-division games. The SEC could certainly do it as well.
