Never done it before so maybe this is a dumb question.
Does the kid have to be there and what all info do I need for him?
Kid already has hunters safety and is 13

I don't believe the kid needs to be there. I think all you need is his SSN.

Wonder if I'll need his SS card or birth certificate

I never brought either for my kids. I keep their SSN saved in my phone so I can give it to the gal at Academy.

All you need in SSN. The child does not have to be there. They get deer tags and turkey tags also.

AT what age is this required?

Required for any age under 16. At 16, must have a license.

you can actually do it online at the ldwf website... all you need is SSN. I think it is a charge of $2.50.

I tried to find it on my phn but couldn't. Went to the local hardware store and got it done. All I needed was his social. Needed the tags in hand for today's evening hunt but as hot as it is with pending rain we opted out

No matter the age, if a kid kills a deer, he's supposed to have tags to tag it. Tags are free up to age 16.

Several years ago when I would get them for Hunt jr I just had his SS number. Bring SS number and his certification you should be good.

Thanks for the info-I have 2 girls an 11 and 8 and my 8 yr old daughter wants to go with me to hunt. I have a bow and have an old crossbow and started her on that to learn how to shoot/ not be afraid of shooting-we have plenty does, so I plan on taking her on a doe day and hopefully we will get her one!
