'The librarian's editorial also criticizes the first lady's book selections, which include "The Cat in the Hat," "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish," "The Foot Book," "Green Eggs and Ham" and "Oh, the Places You'll Go!"

"You may not be aware of this, but Dr. Seuss is a bit of a cliché, a tired and worn ambassador for children's literature. As First Lady of the United States, you have an incredible platform with world-class resources at your fingertips," she wrote.'

No, there is no politics involved in education and the regressives are not out to destroy whatever's left of American culture.

The FLOTUS could've sent that school 3 tons of gold bricks and they'd bitch about how they weren't platinum.

Good, then she can furnish all the kids books at her own personal expense.

Just an FYI: your title seems to indicate the teacher is Connecticut and the article states she's in Massachusetts...

What's even better is when you read the librarian's response letter.

She hits all the SJW/progressive talking points.

The Cambridge school system says the opinions in the editorial do not represent the district and released a statement, saying "the employee was not authorized to accept or reject donated books on behalf of the school or school district." "We have counseled the employee on all relevant policies, including the policy against public resources being used for political purposes," the district said.

I am not sure how she can defend this comment with anything other than "in my opinion".

How many other "cliches" has she rejected ? HC Anderson, The Brothers Grimm, Roald Dahl ?

Sounds like this librarian just wanted a chance to announce her politics to the world.

Her job is to educate children, not inundate them nor us with her beliefs. She should be terminated from her position.

That, and whoever heard of a library turning down donations? She's just plain bad at her job.

Sort of ironic to see modern day "progressive" educators try to label anything else a "cliche."

I'm not a big fan of calling women counts, but...

...look at this horse shite county countness in bold.

quote:

"My students have access to a school library with over nine thousand volumes and a librarian with a graduate degree in library science. Multiple studies show that schools with professionally staffed libraries improve student performance," wrote Phipps Soeiro. Phipps Soeiro also criticized Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and the Trump administration's education policy. "Why not go out of your way to gift books to underfunded and underprivileged communities that continue to be marginalized and maligned by policies put in place by Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos?" she wrote.

Those dem talking points sure are effective.
