Bumping with an update. I got it a couple days ago and booted it up about 2 hours ago.

I really like the combat, and the story seems interesting so far, but I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing with this settlement I started with the first minuteman group. I built beds and water pumps but I'm lost on how the building system works. It looks like I can make a whole building, but I'm not sure.

Also can't find any food to grow; do I just need to explore and find some?

Finally, I have a load of useless shite in my inventory that I'd like to be able to sell, and I haven't found a merchant anywhere.

You'll find it either in the wild or another friendly settlement. Just pick some and plant in your place.

Either with traders you come across or just streamline the main story until you get to Diamond City.

Save your useless junk in your workbench so you can use it for building. Sell weapons and armor you don't want. Might want to save crappy leather armor as you will need lots of leather for almost any armor mods you make. You can also give guns to settlers to use in case of attack. They only need one round of that ammo type to use the weapon.

Once you have the right perks you can build shops in your settlements and sell to them so you don't have to go one of the cities.

That's great and all, but General another settlement needs your help!
