For those that find their way inside the home, capture is easily accomplished by placing glue boards (glue traps) in locations where the critters have been spotted.
What's the best way to catch them in the house? Someone earlier mentioned a bagless vacuum. I always have used a plastic cup and sheet of paper so I can put them back outside.
Does the vacuum kill them?

That was me, and no, it didn't kill it. I found it alive and well in the empty canister. It was on the ceiling, so I couldn't use a cup, and I didn't really want to. The last time I used a cup, the anole I was after darted, and I hurt its back. Had to put it down. Felt terrible. I love those little lizards.
