Seems like it would match my donation up to 5k. Never thought of doing that.

Anyone that works for a corporation of any size, likely has a "Matching Gift" program... seriously, people need to know and understand this -- take advantage of the benefits your employer may provide.

In fact, you probably won't get "points" for them -- but since TAF is a "charity" for tax purposes, donations there too may be matched by employers.

It's very worth exploring -- the institutions you support could benefit with a match of 1:1, 2:1, a few even more.

Personally, my giving to LSU through the Flagship fund, Academic programs and the LSU Alumni Association far exceeds what I donate to TAF... but that's a choice and I support any and all alumni giving to LSU in whatever capacity... that's how an endowment is built. Long term sustained giving from the masses... and some really large donations from the few that have made a mint, and choose to share that wealth with the institution that in part helped them achieve that success.

It is clearly not all Alexander's fault.
What the La Legislature (and it Constitution) have done to higher education here is criminal.
Governor Roemer inflicted a lot of avoidable damage. However, Gov. Jindal's destruction makes everyone else look like amateurs.
