Thank you for this post. I just donated.

I live out of state, but I have LSU to thank for my education and career. My dad was a prof there for 40+ years. Between my two siblings, parents, and myself, we have 8+ LSU degrees.

LSU and the state of Louisiana may be going through a rough financial patch now, but both will bounce back.

It's up to us alumni to help out. I'll forever be a tiger.

Glad to see a positive attitude among the pages of negative, ungrateful, entitled sounding posts.

A poster above said that a larger endowment improves a school's academic ranking. Whatever lifts LSU lifts everyone who has an LSU degree. A larger endowment would enable LSU to have some independence from the legislature.

And, if LSU hasn't asked you for money, that is not an excuse not to donate. Just join the alumni association and you'll get notice of lots of opportunities.
