Georgia Tech Police Shoot and Kill President of Ga Tech Pride Alliance

This fourth year engineering student approached police with a knife and kept yelling "shoot me". It's tragic when anyone is confused and disturbed enough to either commit suicide or in this case force someone to shoot them. In another article it was mentioned that the individual preferred to be referred to using the pronouns that were genderless. When are we going to wake up and take responsibility for not offering people help that have an obvious mental disorder? I think society is partially to blame when we encourage people with such mental disorders to live in a confused state of mind and make them think they are heroic. I would be amazed if this didn't result in this person's death.

Agreed.
I'm as right wing as they come but this just saddens me. I wonder how much the media's obsessions with normalizing this illness contributed to this happening?
I struggled with addictions but I knew they're addictions and I knew I needed help. I wonder what would have happened to me if everyone told me there was nothing wrong with it.
I pray for his family and friends.
Just kinda sad.

Really wish officers would be a little more verbal in stating consequences. "Drop the knife!" not as clear as "Drop the knife or we'll shoot you dead where you stand in give seconds."
