Currently, college football is genuinely exciting far more often than pro football is. NFL needs to be concerned about that.

Is it really? I've had a hard time getting into either the last few years. Saban is sucking all the air out of the room.

Don't think the NFL has much to be concerned about.
Me, personally, I enjoy CFB a tad more than the NFL because I have a "real" connection with my rooting interest.

In b4 people come and talk about the superior talent and how polished the on field product is.
CFB>NFL all day, every day.

It's more exciting, but I don't think the NFL needs to worry about that.

didn't think the CFP Final was good?
I agree that the SEC has changed from its peak in 2008 to 2013.

CFB and the NFL are about the same in terms of excitement as long as you have a rooting interest in both. People have been complaining about the number of unnecessary roughness penalties in the NFL, yet the NCAA has been focused on that too in the form of targeting and it ejects it's players as a result. I see little difference.

Why would the NFL be worried?
They aren't competitors. Notice they don't play on the same day (besides a shitty CFB matchup on Thursday).
Who sits there on Sunday or Monday and says "oh I watched CFB yesterday, I guess I can't watch the NFL today"?

Probably not, there's a large population of the country (northeast) that couldn't care less about CFB.
Personally however, I find myself becoming less and less interested in the NFL each year, even as a season ticket holder.

Wonder what NFL ratings would be like without fantasy football
Posted on 9/15/17 at 7:26 am to RollTide1987
I can hardly watch a full NFL game anymore unless i put a few bucks on it... too many long periods during the game where NOTHING happens.
Posted on 9/15/17 at 7:31 am to RollTide1987
So other than eliminate Thursday night games (which ain't happening) what can they do? NFL is already geared towards offense...but the problem is the majority of these offenses and QBs absolutely suck.

There's no flow unless a team has a long sustaining drive. 3-and-out? Punt then TV commerical. Turnover? Tv commercial. Injury? TV commercial. play clock is down and QB calls timeout? TV commercial

Kind of agree. Even though I enjoy the college game more, it's getting old watching the same two or three loaded teams dominate the sport.
Jimi makes a good point about fantasy. Without it, I think you would have way less nerds following the sport. But, maybe they are getting updates on their phones and just watching Redzone, anyway.

You forgot Touchdown TV commercial the. kick off TV commercial. Do we need a TV commercial one play later?

When you understand football, watching the trenches in CFB leave a lot to be desired. There are so few decent O and D lines.
Posted on 9/15/17 at 7:52 am to SuperSaint
I think the opposite actually. The less talent and technique makes for more obvious displays of violence in the trenches. Sometimes it truly sucks (see Auburn last Saturday) and is lame to watch. But the Bama vs Florida St game was great. I would bet we'll see hard fighting action this weekend with UF-TN and LSU-MSU.

I watched the Saints (part), but that was about it.

I didn't watch NFL because that game was going to suck. I also didn't watch college football last night because I had no interest in what they were showing.
Outside of a handful of games college has little to offer without a rooting interest, same for NFL most weeks.

Feel like CBS does this way more. Maybe it's just me. Say Oakland and Denver battling it out west...Denver scores and they go to commercial. Come back 4 minutes later for kickoff and a TB...another commercial as they cue up dramatic music as lead in to break
