President Donald Trump admitted that he wasn’t actually going to build a great new wall on the southern border but repair existing fences and build selective strategic border structures.
The president confirmed the fears of many supporters who worry that his campaign promise of a single “great wall” of “hardened concrete” and “rebar and steel” would go unfulfilled.
The promised wall was a feature of Trump’s agenda, as he mocked current border infrastructure.
After his inauguration, Trump described current border walls as “little toy walls” in an interview with Sean Hannity in January, vowing to replace them with something new.
“I’m talking about a real wall. I’m talking about a wall that’s got to be, like, serious,” Trump said.
Trump’s national security officials, including Gen. John Kelly, have argued that a solid concrete wall on the Southern border is not necessary, touting strategic fencing and border infrastructure.
Democrats have vowed not to fund Trump’s wall winning an early concession from the administration in May.
At the time, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer argued that funding for bollard fencing was an effective way to secure the border, but stopped short of saying that it was the wall that the president had promised.

For fricks sake...go crawl back in your hole Rakim.
The wall will be built.
The wall will be built.

I've seen better effort from a quadriplegic in a 100m hurdle race.

When CNN lies just aren't enough ...

So shouldn't the left be happy that he is not building a brand new wall but instead reinforcing our existing one and making them higher?

I said multiple times throughout the campaign and since he took office, there would be no wall.
And there won't be.
His core supporters bought this hook, line and sinker.

No he has not. I'm a wait and see guy and will see what actually gets legislated into law before I break out the pitchforks and frick Trump material.
I just looked at breitbart tonight and damn they are fricking roasting him. It's absolutely brutal and that's a good thing as it will keep Trump on the straight and narrow.
I fully believe that Trump isn't stupid enough to do the one thing that will piss off his base and embrace amnesty when they've already stuck with him through thick and thin with pussy grabbing tape, comments against McCain, the mexican judge, gold star family, and whatnot.

Nobody ever expected him to build a 1500 mile Great Wall of China. We are getting what we wanted. A (finally) serious look at illegal immigrants and the best way to decrease the flow.
The flow has already lessened. However, there are several places on that border that still need some help. Big tall wall? Electronic surveillance? Drones? More border personnel?
I'm a little less concerned as time passes. I'm expecting a significant improvement on our southern border. I also expect some compromise to get the things built to help the people who are defending that border. DACA has to be on the table.
This problem has been kicked down the road, just like things like NK and Ocare, for too long. The status quo isn't good enough any longer. Trump is making a good effort. Do you think Hillary would have?

Personally, I had hoped early on that the "wall" was a symbolic rallying point that would lead to vastly improved border security, (troops, drones, equpment, and some impassable physical barriers), but not actually include 1,600 miles of physical wall.

nobody named "rakim" can talk about the President of the United States!

20-30 billion for a wall is no big deal. It's not like America has a decaying infrastructure.

You think that you are cute trying to get under the skin of one or two posters on this board.

How much do you get paid to post here?

Don't know if it will cost him the election, but it sure will cost him my vote.
