At least these days the progs feel so emboldened that they're no longer lying about this stuff

quote:

In 2013, you ran on reducing income inequality. Where has it been hardest to make progress? Wages, housing, schools?

quote:

What’s been hardest is the way our legal system is structured to favor private property. I think people all over this city, of every background, would like to have the city government be able to determine which building goes where, how high it will be, who gets to live in it, what the rent will be. I think there’s a socialistic impulse, which I hear every day, in every kind of community, that they would like things to be planned in accordance to their needs. And I would, too. Unfortunately, what stands in the way of that is hundreds of years of history that have elevated property rights and wealth to the point that that’s the reality that calls the tune on a lot of development.

I’ll give you an example. I was down one day on Varick Street, somewhere close to Canal, and there was a big sign out front of a new condo saying, “Units start at $2 million.” And that just drives people stark raving mad in this city, because that kind of development is clearly not for everyday people. It’s almost like it’s being flaunted. Look, if I had my druthers, the city government would determine every single plot of land, how development would proceed. And there would be very stringent requirements around income levels and rents. That’s a world I’d love to see, and I think what we have, in this city at least, are people who would love to have the New Deal back, on one level. They’d love to have a very, very powerful government, including a federal government, involved in directly addressing their day-to-day reality.

this is the face of the modern Democratic party

The two things Marx said we have to destroy in order to accomplish a communist state are private property and religion.

Yeah I bet NYers would love to have a very strong federal government run by Donald Trump telling them what to do.

Methinks this little bit of chilling Marxism only applies to when Dems run the show.

Also: wow. Completely open communism. Jeez.

And the DNC wants to blame their election losses on things other than their own philosophy.

I think the exemplifies the separation between the mentality of the large population centers (Chicago, Los Angeles, NYC, etc) and the rest of the country. Thank God for the electoral college.

If you hadn't put a name to it, I would've thought that would've been said by one of those naive, utopia filled college students at some bullshite rally or protest they love to have. Not the mayor of New York City.

He can see this in action in places like Russia, China, and North Korea. Maybe he should visit.

Bernie Sanders popularity has emboldened the left to come out with what they really want

Had Bernie been black or queer he might have taken the whole thing

The neo-Nazis are a fringe group of a few thousand that everybody hates.

The neo-Communists hold offices like Mayor of New York, 40 senate seats, and 150 seats in the House.

Yep, they are equal threats.

I don't understand how anyone can promote these types of policies given the economic realities of the last century.

Suggesting a prohibition on private property as a cure for economic woes is like suggesting smoking Marboro Reds as a cure for lung cancer.

When he uses the phrase "very, very powerful government", he means Totalitarian Government.
