this was the best blog on the internet. it was funny, insightful. speculation and rumors.

now it's probably the worst blog on the internet. it happened before NBC bought them. dude is just a tool. I started following them in 2005. haven't read them in a couple of years.

sucks that florio let the peter kings of the world turn him into one of them to join the club.

AGREED.

I haven't watched a game yet this preseason. My interest for pro ball has waned quite a bit.

I watch an occasional Falcons game but I have little interest in pro football compared to college football.

My uncle had the game on until the national anthem. After that he turned it off and said they are using my tv to boost the ratings of this shite

Y'all are delusional if you think conservative snowfalkes are making a dent into their ratings.
I don't know why or claim to know why and assume the answer is nuanced and complex, but they have an interest problem. not an election year problem, not a hurricane problem, an interest problem related to their product.

rise in streaming
sure. not something I would casually dismiss

changing NFL rules
it's my number 1 complaint and I hear it from almost everyone.

and other non political shite
enough people complain about something you may want to listen to what they're saying. I can only speculate, but I believe all of these things turned fans off and over time they were increasingly dissatisfied with it. if your interest and viewership is hanging on by a thread, this can easily sever the connection. and I do believe it was the tipping point for a shite ton of people.

sports media and the NFL has spent countless hours and paper dismissing the validity of it. why is that? because so many people have said it's an issue for them and they're not watching. you'd think that would raise an eyebrow on Madison ave.

Cord cutting has nothing to do with it

Pretty much all the games are on broadcast TV.

Let it burn down.....get back to being about football and only football and I might reengage.

These s.o.b.'s are entitled to freedom of speech and expression, but it doesn't relieve them of accountability for their words and actions.

it's not insignificant because not everyone gets bunny ears (which I hear are digital now ) but yes, it doesn't really hold water as one of the key problems

12% down from an audience that already shrunk 8% the following year...time to start listening to consumers if i'm roger goodell, but then again, I don't think he knows who his consumers are.

We were flipping channels last night and hit the game during the Anthem.

I told my wife, "they will spend more time talking about who sat for the Anthem than anything else. change this garbage".

Done.

I will continue to watch and enjoy. Football season is too short to be a triggered snowflake and miss good matchups like last night.

I only "watched" because it was on at the restaurant I worked at. I have worked at restaurants in the past during NFL season and we always had a good crowd... last night it was dead. Less people care. Of course NBC had to show the Chiefs clown during the anthem. I can get minute by minute ratings for my market when they come out and see if anyone tuned out during the anthem if someone can tell me what time the anthem was played at

NFL is making a huge mistake going after the SJW crowd. It might work for the NBA but the NFL fanbase is not the same despite some overlap

The nfls problems are so much deeper than activist bullshite

Read this thread. The SJW stuff is just an additional turnoff

Rules, flags, commercials...the NFL has had this problem for a while and now it's starting to impact business

commercials...

Both college and pro football are completely missing the forest for the trees on this shite. THE GAME is THE PRODUCT, and they need to go back to seeing it as such and forcing whoever wants to advertise within that product to do so within the normal confines of it.

They've made watching them on TV virtually unbearable, and attending in person even worse.

I was at a sports book in Las Vegas this past Saturday and took a pic of when every single game that was being shown on a TV was in a commercial. It was sad

The "TOUCHDOWN, commercial, kickoff, commercial, 3 and out, commercial, 1 play then turnover, commercial" garbage that has plagued the NFL has made its way to college as well

I love college football but games were approaching 4 hours this past weekend. Ridiculous. It seems like we now get a break during every change of possession on top of timeouts and end of quarters.

Football should take a page from college basketball and just do TV timeouts when there is a change of possession or stoppage of play and the clock is under a certain time

ESPN literally created an SJW-based Sportscenter called SC6

Add to that the product isn't as good anymore.

All of this has been building and the NFL's refusal to acknowledge dead cops and public embrace of SJW bullshite was just where it exploded

Made it easier for people to walk away.
