No worries man. My tactics generally don't include berating you. The patient that they wanted the blood from did have a CDL (commercial driver's license) they have a lower expectation of privacy. However, the use of force here was insane. My wife is a nurse. I would come unglued on that a$$hat after the fact. If I witnessed this happening in real time that officer would get an education in something else I was an instructor in...grappling/DTs.

You're totally right.
Although the department and actions of their employees have qualified immunity.
It depends on the city and county if you can sue the police. But they were most likely going to tamper with his blood sample. A lot of Counties have prohibited police chases for minor shite like traffic violations due to the carnage they cause to innocent drivers.

The incident began when a truck driver was severely burned in a head-on crash with a vehicle that was fleeing from police in Cache County and crossed into on-coming traffic. The driver of the fleeing vehicle was killed. The truck driver was sedated and in a comatose state when he arrived at the hospital.

They were stacking the deck against this guy before he ever had a chance to pursue legal action and playing the odds that the courts would sort it out.
The guy they wanted blood from was the truck driver that was hit by the fleeing suspect. That is his only involvement in the scenario.

Absolutely. That cop just got his jimmies rustled. The other cop in the video wants zero part of what's happening. He even steps out of the shot from the other officers body cam. Nobody else puts hands on the nurse. They all put hands on the cop.

I'm aware of that. Listen to the second cop talk about civil action. They were trying to rail road this guy and limit their liability. A blood draw from a sedated patient would have been used against against the victim in any civil liability case
There is no other reasonable explanation for their actions

When I was on the job, this was known as a CLUE.

I'm tracking. This is the job of attorneys and policy, not the officer in the field.

Damn. It was basically suicide?

LEO was wrong and what was his plan? Keep arresting until someone did his bidding?

It legal to kill a cop if you are resisting an unlawful arrest

Exactly, which makes you question the motivations of the police here. They were hell bent on getting a blood draw from a burned up victim. Why was that?

Yes, but in the short term, you will not be judged in a court of law. Reality is a bitch.
ETA: The place to fight police misconduct is in court not on the street.

So is getting killed while unlawfully arresting people

100% agree, unless I thought the officer had plans to murder me, like the cop in Natchitoches who killed old boy.

Okay, you have a better chance of winning the lottery while getting struck by lightning. Good luck.

Nope. 1983 is a federal action, not a state one...

Just heard on the radio that the officer has been placed on administrative leave and the DA is looking into pursuing criminal charges. I hope they nail this sorry son of a bitch the wall along with that bitch arse cop talking about "his law"

Well you answered that.
Somebody higher up - told them to do X,Y,Z.
These innocent driver gets maimed or killed from a police pursuit are facing a massive backlash. (Sounds like the pursuit was justified but precincts aren't taking any chances now.) Easier to mitigate a lawsuit with comparative liability by tampering with his blood sample.

Can a officer or even a judge require a medical official to do their bidding?
I understand they can compel someone to give up their blood, but can the compel someone to take blood?
