You can get all that professionally installed with a wired system for a little over a thousand dollars.

This. Find a company that will warranty the equipment and install for at least two years.

For a few hundred more you can upgrade to POE cameras with higher resolution.

Meh, for a residence you really don't need more than 2mp cameras. And even now they have 3 and 4mp cameras coming out over coax. I know there is a theory here about how it is easier to pull category cable but people have been pulling siamese cable (rg59 w18/2 attached) for decades. Sure cat can get in tighter spots but it's easier to damage. Plus I prefer the reliability of a can power supply over a POE switch. Switches can go down and/or lose programming which can be a bitch.

I'm not saying coax > Cat systems but for homes/small business I prefer coax.

am not in the business but everyone I have talked to has told me that the wired cameras are infinitely more reliable than the wireless ones.

100% I am in the biz and even have wireless cameras (in addition to wired) But I don't see or use them as protection. They just aren't there yet for that. Plus you don't want security cameras on the same wifi network as all of your other connected devices. This goes for wired too. Your cameras should be on their own network.
