What would you get? Has to be a wood stock also.

Price is for rifle only. Glass, rings, etc is already accounted for.

I'd get a fluted stainless Savage in .270. Buy a replacement custom wood stock and glass bed it. Spend the rest on ammo

Winchester Model 70 Super Grade. Or, if possible, negotiate down to $1200.00 on a Mauser M12.

The Win Model 70 featherweight is a great gun. Savage doesn't get a lot of talk here, but you should check out a Model 14/114 American Classic. Classic wood stock rifle, Savage accuracy, American made, well within your budget.

Savage Model 14/114

Side note, walked outside (Minnesota) and it's 58 degrees this morning, walk into work and there's a deer rifle thread....we must be getting close baws

Win M70 Super Grade of Featherweight.

Other choice would be Rem 700 CDL SF, or better yet and older BDL Mountain Rifle. Hinged floor plate only. IMO.

Savage 114 American Classic custom ordered in .25-06 Remington. Spend part of the remaining $4-500 on ammo and the rest laughing at $1200 hunting rifles
