That article is terrifyingly stupid. It's not just advocating reducing Free Speech rights, it's advocating reducing Free Speech rights of only white people - the justification for which is beyond absurd.

Supreme Court just upheld hate speech in June in the Slants decision.
1) this article really isn't about hate speech
2) The Slants decision has very little to do with what is typically thought of as hate speech.

And here we see the real genius of the constitution. The first ammendment is protected by the second ammendment. For the longest time, we have been led to believe the target was the second ammendment, but I think it's now abundantly clear that the end game has always been to silence dissent by destroying the first ammendment. The second ammendment has always been the road block and they've tried for decades to remove it or weaken it. What we are seeing now is a new strategy. It's a direct assault on the first ammendment. They are all in. This is where the real battle takes place. They must be defeated here.

at first they came for Nazis, and i said nothing, because i was not a Nazi

Do these weak people think they'll actually be running their version of the politburo?

I saw on Twitter that yes you can be a Nazi and have your hate speech and government should do nothing, but a citizen should be able to punch you in the face really hard for it.

For marginalized communities, the power of expression is impoverished for reasons that have little to do with the First Amendment. Numerous other factors in the public sphere chill their voices but amplify others.
this is the most ironic comment with the least amount of self awareness that i think i've ever read in my life

She also mentions the suppression of leftist voices on college campuses

Jesus, I detest how smug the "wrong side of history" is.
Shouldn't liberals attempt to win elections before they define the future?

Here in lies the problem...
To me "go frick yourself" is just as hateful as anything
Should it be banned? No.

this author is one of those people who is so far down the rabbit hole that you can't even discuss or debate the issues with her
quote:
A black kid who gets thrown in jail for possessing a small amount of marijuana will face consequences that will directly affect his ability to have a voice in public life. How does the A.C.L.U.’s conception of free speech address that?
when they say shite like that in an article about the 1st Amendment, they admit they have set sail and have left reality
quote:
The question the organization should ask itself is: Could prioritizing First Amendment rights make the distribution of power in this country even more unequal and further silence the communities most burdened by histories of censorship?
this is why the auth-left are scary. either they are liars promoting propaganda or have left reality and are so far away from it, they refuse to acknowledge simple concepts like rights. then they justify ignoring universality of rights by some insignificant reach of a precedent (in this article, it's race-based admissions that violate the equal protection clause)
they are evil authoritarians who use sophistry to rally dumb and ignorant people to their mob and nothing more

All of this bullshite goes back to the false notion that there is a constitutional right to not be offended.

i cannot believe somebody is so far removed from reality that they blame the ACLU for amplifying the hate speech of Nazis within an editorial of an organization that's been dedicated to amplifying the hate speech of Nazis for the past year
Posted on 8/18/17 at 7:44 am to G The Tiger Fan
They've given up on the first amendment. They now are just into shouting down those they disagree with

Something that needs to happen is taking back the colleges and universities. They are not teaching anymore they are indoctrinating, and we are paying them to do it.

I can't even address it. I've typed and deleted 4 posts. It's literally too stupid to address
