If the combo of Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee got us to the BCS title game, plus Matt Mauck won us a national championship, I'd say that we'd have a shot with Danny Etling.

How's Bama always make it? It's definitely not because of tremendous QB play. They win in the trenches and make it easier on their QB. That and horse shite officiating.

I might be the minority here, but I personally would have loved seeing how Harris would do under Canada. Having him here wouldn't have hurt.

Harris is a great kid and I wish him the best at UNC but he isn't an SEC caliber QB. I don't care about shitty lines or being pressured, he couldn't make routine passes.

In this day and age of college football, your QB has to be better than what someone like Etling showed last year if you want to win it all.

In 2003 Mauck threw 28 TDs and had the best defense in the country. In 2011 Lee was extremely efficent and Jeff was mobile. Add that to the best and most opportunistic defense in the country that gave you the ball at the 40 every game, and a top level special teams unit, and that's why it was all we needed.

They definitely make it easier on the QB, but I really think it's wrong how a lot of people down their QBs. Like the way LSU made it in 2003 (Ala Saban), is the way they go about it every year. The only year in the last 5 where the QB didn't put up at least 28 TDs, the RB put up 28 (even still the QB put up 23). LSU hasn't had a QB score 23 times since 2007, but I will say Mett probably scores 24-25 on the year had he not gotten injured. LSU hasn't had a team of QBs score at least 23 (run and pass), since 2013. Mett had 22 in 12 games, Jefferson had 18 total in 11.5 games and Harris had 17 total in 12 games. Of course Bama usually plays 1-2 extra games, but they also play much better teams in those 1-2 extra games.
