Anyone who wants to understand the nation's history needs to know how the Republican and Democratic parties flipped ends on the political spectrum.
The Republican Party was formed in the 1850's explicitly to oppose the institution of Slavery.
The Democratic Party was the party of the Slave Power. The Democratic Party split north and south (The 1860 convention was in Charleston, S.C.) on slavery and disunion.
After the Civil War the Republican Party became the party of the fat cats and the Robber Barons. Which it still pretty much is.
The Democratic Party became the party of the progressives and one of its early standard bearers was William Jennings Bryan.
Liberty, Justice, Humanity
Teddy Roosevelt looked askance at nephew Franklin when FDR gravitated to the Democratic Party.
When Franklin married Eleanor she didn't have to change her last name. She was a Roosevelt too.
And FDR built the country so many of you want to destroy.
Luckily for you, the Democratic Party is willing to help.

There's a statue somewhere saying he was a dimocrap. When the folks were called on it they refused to take it down.

Statue of Lincoln in Edinburgh
EXECUTIVE MANSION, WASHINGTON, January 19, 1863.
To the Working-men of Manchester:
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of the address and resolutions which you sent me on the eve of the new year. When I came, on the 4th of March, 1861, through a free and constitutional election to preside in the Government of the United States, the country was found at the verge of civil war. Whatever might have been the cause, or whosesoever the fault, one duty, paramount to all others, was_ before me, namely, to maintain and preserve at once the Constitution and the integrity of the Federal Republic. A conscientious purpose to perform this duty is the key to all the measures of administration which have been and to all which will hereafter be pursued. Under our frame of government and my official oath, I could not depart from this purpose if I would. It is not always in the power of governments to enlarge or restrict the scope of moral results which follow the policies that they may deem it necessary for the public safety from time to time to adopt.
I have understood well that the duty of self-preservation rests solely with the American people; but I have at the same time been aware that favor or disfavor of foreign nations might have a material influence in enlarging or prolonging the struggle with disloyal men in which the country is engaged. A fair examination of history has served to authorize a belief that the past actions and influences of the United States were generally regarded as having been beneficial toward mankind. I have, therefore, reckoned upon the forbearance of nations.
Circumstances -to some of which you kindly allude - induce me especially to expect that if justice and good faith should be practised by the United States, they would encounter no hostile influence on the part of Great Britain. It is now a pleasant duty to acknowledge the demonstration you have given of your desire that a spirit of amity and peace toward this country may prevail in the councils of your Queen, who is respected and esteemed in your own country only more than she is by the kindred nation which has its home on this side of the Atlantic.
I know and deeply deplore the sufferings which the working-men of Manchester, and in all Europe, are called to endure in this crisis. It has been often and studiously represented that the attempt to overthrow this government, which was built upon the foundation of human rights, and to substitute for it one which should rest exclusively on the basis of human slavery, was likely to obtain the favor of Europe. Through the action of our disloyal citizens, the working- men of Europe have been subjected to severe trials, for the purpose of forcing their sanction to that attempt. Under the circumstances, I cannot but regard your decisive utterances upon the question as an instance of sublime Christian heroism which has not been surpassed in any age or in any country. It is indeed an energetic and re-inspiring assurance of the inherent power of truth, and of the ultimate and universal triumph of justice, humanity, and freedom. I do not doubt that the sentiments you have expressed will be sustained by your great nation; and, on the other hand, I have no hesitation in assuring you that they will excite admiration, esteem, and the most reciprocal feelings of friendship among the American people. I hail this interchange of sentiment, therefore, as an augury that whatever else may happen, whatever misfortune may befall your country or my own, the peace and friendship which now exist between the two nations will be, as it shall be my desire to make them, perpetual.
ABRAHAM LINCOLN.

That's pretty pathetic and I doubt using "National Union Party" was done in the interest of historical accuracy, but at the same time, if you have to google Lincoln's party, I doubt I'm at risk of you influencing my life.

In 1860 the Democratic Party split north and south on the issue of slavery.
"Urged by Yancey, the delegations from seven Deep South states (Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, and Florida) met in a separate caucus before the convention. They reached a tentative consensus to "stop Douglas" by imposing a pro-slavery party platform which he could not run on if nominated.[2]
The “Fire-eater” majority on the convention's platform committee, chaired by William Waightstill Avery of North Carolina, produced an explicitly pro-slavery document, endorsing Dred Scott and Congressional legislation protecting slavery in the territories. Northern Democrats refused to acquiesce. Dred Scott was extremely unpopular in the North, and the Northerners said they could not carry a single state with that platform. On 30 April, the convention by a vote of 165 to 138 adopted the minority (Northern) platform, which omitted these planks. 50 Southern delegates then left the convention in protest,[1] including the Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Texas delegations, three of the four delegates from Arkansas, and one of the three delegates from Delaware."

But it was largely the Democratic Party in the 1930's that fought for the 40 hour work week, a minimum wage, child labor laws and the rest of FDR's New Deal. With Democratic majorities the Congress Passed the GI Bill of Rights in 1944. It was the GI Bill of Rights that did as much as anything to make the modern United States.
FDR signing the GI Bill of Rights

The GOP flips:
"The 1896 realignment cemented the Republicans as the party of big business, while Theodore Roosevelt added more small business support by his embrace of trust busting. He handpicked his successor William Howard Taft in 1908, but they became enemies on economic issues. Defeated by Taft for the 1912 nomination, Roosevelt bolted the party and led the third party ticket of the Progressive Party. The Republicans returned to the White House throughout the 1920s, running on platforms of normalcy, business-oriented efficiency, and high tariffs. The national party avoided the prohibition issue after it became law in 1920.
Warren G. Harding, Calvin Coolidge and Herbert Hoover were resoundingly elected in 1920, 1924, and 1928 respectively. The Teapot Dome scandal threatened to hurt the party but Harding died and Coolidge blamed everything on him, as the opposition splintered in 1924. The pro-business policies of the decade seemed to produce an unprecedented prosperity until the Wall Street Crash of 1929 heralded the Great Depression."

A wing of the GOP did support the New Deal, but mostly the party opposed it.

As if you give a frick about that.
It is social safety net built by FDR that you want destroyed.
Yes. That FDR.
Right after the Brits and French sold out the Czechs at Munich - On Monday, November 14, 1938 President Roosevelt summoned a number of key military advisers to what Eric Hammel has called possibly the most important single meeting in modern world history. The president wanted a large force of -offensive- airplanes. The Air Corps had 12 working strategic bombers and several hundred tactical bombers of dubious utility. FDR told his advisers he wanted 20,000 Army Air Corps aircraft in service and a capacity to build 24,000 a year. For the day these numbers were simply fantastic.
It was FDR who mobilized the nation and built the force that once deployed crushed the Germans and Japanese in a year.
