That's interesting. I didn't know airlines did this. It just seems like the airports are so close together that it's pointless to even operate out of the Hattiesburg/Laurel airport

That's the way airlines operated before the Deregulation Act of 1978. Just 20 years ago Delta was still flying MD-88's, 737's, 727's, and 757's from Jackson to Monroe, Shreveport, and Pensacola, all once daily, and to Birmingham 3 times daily.
It's crazy how much the industry has changed since 9/11, and even just prior to 9/11.

The milk run from Seattle to Juneau includes a Wrangell Ak to Petersburg Ak leg. They are about 30 miles apart. It's like flightseeing at 10,000 feet in a 737. Both towns have less than 3,000 ppl.
