Sir Donovan shoots burglar - gets arrested

This is a good one. The burglar magically becomes a "victim" after getting shot. Shooter's wife ratted him out to the cops, pretty sure that will be a topic of conversation when he bonds out.

Around 5 a.m. Tuesday, Sir Donavon Jordan, 29, went outside to the parking lot of his apartment on Cherry Hill Avenue after his wife woke up to a car horn and saw someone inside her vehicle, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office said in an affidavit of probable cause.
After Jordan went outside, the wife said she heard several gunshots and looked out the window to see a male running away from the parking lot.
She told deputies that Jordan said he had shot the man and then left in her vehicle and took a firearm with him.
Two bullet casings were found in the parking lot near where the vehicle was parked, according to the report.
The victim later arrived at a relative’s home in the 10800 block of Ansley Drive and was transported to an area hospital in “serious condition.” A family member told deputies that the victim arrived at her residence shortly before 5 a.m., banging on the door and yelling that he had been shot. The victim was shot several times, including once in the abdomen, the report said.
Jordan, 10952 Cherry Hill Ave., Baton Rouge, was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on counts of attempted second-degree murder, felon in possession of a firearm and illegal use of a weapon. He was also booked on an bench warrant for counts of domestic abuse battery and simple criminal damage to property.

Damn threw me for a loop there with the headline, it had me thinking that the British Royalty did not have as much pull as one would think.

I mean, you can't just shoot people outside of your home for stealing your shite. Take pictures of the guy, give them to the cops, and move on with your life.

Was expecting this guy's mug shot.

In most places it is illegal to use deadly force to stop a simple burglary. If it's an armed burglary then it would be a different matter but if the car thief wasn't threatening deadly force then shooting him will indeed get you charged.

After the initial story, that's bull shite

The story is about a convicted felon (who can't own firearms) shooting a burglar. Title is misleading.

Which is great, but even if he could own a firearm, you still can't just open fire on people outside of your house not posing a deadly threat.

10 years ago, i agree.
But i am sick of tired of this crap. Shoot a thief, the next time he will think twice.
Arrest him, and nothing major happens. A few weeks of, at most, of free 3 square and a bed

Owning a gun doesn't make you a police officer or judge/jury/executioner. It gives you the ability to defend yourself in life or death situations. Some dumbass robbing your vehicle is not one of those situations, unless he's taking a gun and planning on using it against you. I'm as pro second amendment as it gets, but discharging a firearm with intent to kill is a serious event that should be avoided.

frick a thief, but the car owner's life was not in danger. He could have easily scared the guy off or called the police. The law won't take his side on this one.
ETA: Had this burglar tried to gain entry into a home, that might have been a different story. That's a threat.
ETA 2: Just read the article to the end. The dude should not have even had a gun as a felon. So, he will get the book thrown at him on top of his other charges he had a warrant for.
