I would look at the resorts around Salt Lake City. Proximity to the airport can't be beat.

I'd probably go with this, either park city or snowbird. I think i remember snowbird having some tough terrain, but also some very long greens and blue/greens good for beginners.

Another option is the northeast such as new hampshire, vermont or maine. Fly into boston and drive a few hours. For a beginner, it's not necessarily worth it to spend a ton of money on lift tickets and ski school when you can do it for half the price in the northeast. Only issue is hoping for snow instead of ice although they can still make snow
