I was looking on Google Maps at Barksdale and noticed on the right a bunch of what looks to be in ground bunkers. Anyone know what is being stored in those.

Bush was even flown in after 9/11 and was put in one of those bunkers. I believe he even made decisions from those bunkers. It's one of the most secure military bases in the world so I assume there's some bombs store there as well.

Probably non-nuclear ordinance. Barksdale had nuclear weapons during the Cold War. I don't think they do any more.

Pan left and just a little down baw. Just beyond the runway running NW to SE.

You will see exactly what those revetments are for.

One of my friend's dad is/was an A-10 pilot at Barksdale. He said at the time, Barksdale had more nukes stored there than any other base in the US. This was not a guy who messed around or told tall tales, so I believed him.

I always thought those were underground bunkers containing those nukes.

There part of the WSA (Weapons Storage Area). They are sometimes referred to as Igloos, which are basically heavily guarded and protected ammo storage facilities. They store any munitions that can be utilized by assets at that particular base. So weapons that can be loaded onto the B-52s, ammo for security forces troops etc.

This is a special time for families stationed at Barksdale. For the first time ever the school board passed a rule that children of Barksdale personnel can send their kids to whichever school they choose. For decades kid living on base housing had to go to the worst school in Bossier.

Freedom of choice. It's a wonderful thing.

They have those at the Tucson airport as well (there's an ANG detachment stationed there). They're for weapons storage/assembly/maintenance.

The body of Jimmy Hoffa and the dead hookers that Craig James killed.
