Never been but hear great things. Which island for a good Hawaiian experience?

Kauai's nice. Loved Poipu.

Kauai was nice, definitely more of an 'island' feel to it. Not very commercialized.
I enjoyed Oahu, just need to get away from Honolulu and Waikiki. The Kailua area was really nice, as was the northshore.

Kauai . Stay on the South side -Grand Hyatt and rent a car . Princeville on the north shore if you are a hippy type. Look at the trip reports or search.

Maui was beautiful
all Hawaiian islands are beautiful.
Maui is beautiful but crowded as hell compared to Kauai and The Big Island.
