Too much of ANYTHING is bad for you.
The real question is how much is too much.
The standard American diet lends towards eating more protein than the average person needs for basic functions. That being said, it may not be enough for someone with a more active life style.
Likewise, some of the protein recommendations you see for people trying to put on muscle mass may actually be higher than what is truly needed to accomplish the task. However, eating protein instead of carbs may provide other health benefits depending on your goals and macro count.
