If all you are playing is turf wars and your main goals is P, then there are some clear front runners in weapons. If you are playing various ranked battles, you will start to see the usefulness of other load outs.

I prefer the buckets for Splat Zones. I rarely play Tower Control or Rainmaker, but am thrilled about their making each game independently ranked.
I wish the Salmon Run weapons rotated with each map cycle. Some of those loadouts are recipes for disaster.

So last night I'm playing a game on Starfish Mainstage with the Sloshing Machine.
I proceeded to make my way to the stage portion and just went ham on the other team. I stood up there for a straight 2 minutes absolutely abusing the other team while the rest of my team came around the sides.
At one point the whole team tried to charge the stage and I took them all out one at a time and the farthest they got was to the speaker on their side of the map. It was so great
I ended up with 15 kills and our team inked 79%, it was also the first time I've gotten a triple (I've gotten plenty of doubles)
Needless to say, after that game I decided to switch to Mario + Rabbids cause going out on that kind of high was amazing. During the 2nd stage in Rabbids I did a literal face/palm when I realized my stupid self had not taken a snapshot from the amazing game earlier

Yeah, that's the best thing to do. Nzap is also a beast on this stage
Did you have the power up that makes you a bad motherfricker for the first 30 seconds?

it's kinda sad, I haven't actually used my n-zap in a long time. That was my original beast-mode weapon. Nowadays I like to use the dualies and sloshers the most. The dodge move with the dualies is phenomenal, and the sloshers can hold the line unlike anything else.

No, I was using the sloshing machine which has the Sting Ray as it's special. The Sting Ray is quickly becoming my favorite special though, that sucker can kill an opponent from across the flippin' map - can easily snipe something using inkjet - and has the effect of stopping your opponents in their tracks which allows your teammates to circle around and flank them.

No it's an armor power up
It's called opening gambit I think
Basically for the first 10 seconds it gives you every power up maxed
You're so fast you can get into the other teams territory in like 10 seconds

Ink Armor, Sting Ray, and Baller are my favorite specials - very little weaknesses to any of them, and only pretty big strengths
Since opening Gambit is an ability on armor pieces, not a weapon - I do not have the armor for it, nor would I want it. I'm currently running a swim speed up, ink saver, and special up set. I'm a show burn player anyways, no real desire to play deathmatch the whole game

i think I have 4 or 5 main weapon ink savers
3 quick swims
2 quick runs
2 sub weapon ink savers
and opening gambit
I never use the special if it prevents me from using my main weapon with the exception of splashdown or the one where you're a ball and can roll wherever and explode it
ink jet i'll use in moray towers from my guard position because I can still guard and ink up neutral ground

General thinking in the Splatoon 1 on clothing slots was to do ink savers as much as possible. That and ninja squid were my favorites.

this is still a thing, usually having at least 1 piece of clothing maxed out with ink saver is a good idea.

they nerfed this pretty big time in 2... it's just not that great anymore sadly - stealth jump is a wasted spot as well.

I do know if you are talking the strengthening buffs (Opening Gambit, Comeback, & Last-Ditch Effort), Last-Ditch Effort is considered the strongest of the 3, and especially in Ranked. In Ranked games the buff last into Overtime - and if normal games the last 30 seconds are considered more important than the first.
Comeback can be better than the other two, but that's also assuming you suck at the game

Haha. Yeah, a lot of the ones in Splatoon1 were sort of built around the premise that you die often (comeback, special saver.. or whiever one it was that saved your special meter even when you died, haunt, etc...). In all the guides it would say, "The idea here is that you DON'T DIE a lot, so these shouldn't be of good use." Of course, I died plenty, even when I was an A+ player.

you've gotta get yourself a Switch and join us!
If nothing else I want 4 of us to do Splatoon's version of horde, it's a blast even with randoms, but with voice chat I'm sure it would be exceptional.

My youngest's birthday is coming up in October. I'm likely buying him a Switch. I don't know that I can justify buying HIM Splatoon as he wasn't ever that into the 1st one (I played it way more than he ddi), but I will likely purchase it for myself soon after.

FWIW the loadout right now is good for climbing if you aren't already a "profreshional" in Salmon Run

They absolutely raped aerospray with the update today, holy cow

Any sign of there being local co op added? Son and I traded off playing for the first few weeks and haven't picked it up since.

What did they do to aerospray
Got to give it to this game. Kept me hooked from late July to mid October

I think damage was decreased, spray quantity was decreased, splatter width was decreased, rate of fire was slightly decreased, and the best aerospray was the baller, and baller was basically neutered...
I played 3 games with aerospray last night just to see how "bad" it was
I actually didn't make it to 1,000p 2 of the 3 times, and this is from the guy who did this the last few days:
and just for fun since I was uploading some things, some really fun games I did recently:

the aerospray wasn't too powerful though. you're basically fricked against any weapon with range unless they can't see your swim trail and you can sneak up on them
