For the old school guys. Is it called a ice-cream float when you put a scoop of ice cream in a glass of coke? Use to get this in a old drug store. All replys are welcome.

I've always referred to this as a 'brown cow'.

Its called a Coke float, or Root Beer float. Not an Ice Cream Float.

Corkarella is wrong.

I've always called them root beer floats and Coke floats depending on which soft drink I use. Sonic used to make those things when I was a kid and I could be mistaken but I would have swore they called them ice cream floats.

I've only had root beer floats. Never had a Coke float.

With the product in the post above if you just drop the ice cream in it, it is a float. If you stir/mix it together it becomes a shake.

This is also much better than any float made with a coke/soda/pop.

Purple Cow - Vanilla ice cream with grape soda

Orange Cow - Vanilla ice cream with orange soda

I haven't had one in years.

I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but a root beer float from Culver's or made with Sprecher's Root Beer is incredible.

My fiancé thought it would be a good idea mixing non-dairy ice cream and Diet Coke the other day since we're on our "wedding diets". I do not recommend trying this.

I recommend putting French vanilla ice cream into a glass of Vernor's.

Fantastic.
