How could they not be? So an uninsured shows up at an ER before EMTALA in active labor (part of the acronym- active labor) and the ER refuses her admittance and she has to drive across town and dies in route. How does the government not intervene in that?

As all of the grief the FDA gets, there are some good things that they do. They add a tremendous cost to meds but for the most part they are safe. Is our government's role not to keep us safe?

Take the reimbursement side of healthcare out of the equation, there are plenty of things the government does that levels the playing field in many cases. Unfortunately, nothing they do is very efficient.
