It'll definitely be hard no doubt but I feel pretty good with Beth here the pitchers will be in good shape.

The beauty of this staff is it will allow Gorsuch and Sunseri this year to have the proper time to develop. Who knows what happens when Sunseri is under Beth's training, we might see another amazing pitcher with a sub 2 ERA.

Luckily we have Wickerhsam coming in the following year. I am not sure who her coach is but her development completely took off this past season and is a completely different player. She throws extremely hard, mid 60's but her curve ball, screw ball, and rise ball are all much improved. If her development continues like this for her senior year, we will have another absolute monster in the circle.

The nice thing too is when we have a lot of youth in the circle the following year, our position players will be very seasoned which should help a lot. Wouldn't also be surprised to see Beth go the Juco route again and add another stud. Pretty stoked about the future right now, LSU is probably one of the hottest programs at the moment.

I know this is random but it looks like Satchell is heading to Texas Tech officially.

Good for her, she'll do well there. Tech just added a few transfers, including one from the cajuns. Will probably be a much different team next year, makeup wise.

Sydney Smith is heading back home. She'll be dominant at Minnesota, they have a lot of talented players. She gets to pitch to Lindaman who is an incredible catcher. Look for Minnesota to do some serious damage again next year.

I am sure after this past NCAA selection everyone will look to play much better schedules. I am hearing we are looking to bring back Minnesota next year as well, and to have a 3 game series with Washington again.

Heaven Burton, she is an OF. She red shirted her freshman year. Pretty versatile player, was ranked in the top 100 prospects by FloSoftball.

I haven't seen her play before but I know she was recruited by Arizona State and Missouri as well.

Seems like a solid pickup for this tech program. They add 6 other signee's so it should be a very different team next year.

Awesome

She deserves a chance to show what she's capable of. I thought she and Dawson might end up at Baylor at first.

Probably because she's not going to pitch as much as she wants with Hoover and Walljasper here

She was set to be our ace in 2019. Seems like it was homesickness since she's from Minnesota and transferring back there.

Maybe so, but her parents and brother moved from Minnesota to Baton Rouge area and he graduated from a local high school. I hear they plan to stay around for a little while.

I think she wanted to be a full time starter, well play a lot more, for the next two years instead of waiting for it her senior year. You can only play college softball once so I can understand why. This year would be extremely tricky if she stayed, while she would see a lot of time Beth will have no choice but to also try to work on the development of Sunseri and Gorsuch for the following year. 5 really good pitchers on staff could be extremely tight.

Its a shame to lose a talent like her, she will do very well though and she represented LSU extremely well. Looking forward to seeing her succeed next year though.

In another random softball update, I think Morgan Cummins plays for Georgia Impact Lewis? They got a really good travel team. If I am not mistaken, another one of our commits Savannah Stewart (2018) is on it as well as a starter. She has been impressive so far this summer. She batted a little over .400 in the So. Cal Invitational against elite talent, her and an Alabama commit looked like the better hitters on the team. She is already ranked at #43 in the country. If she continues looking good this summer I expect her to be ranked around 32-38 range. Really good looking prospect. She has a lot of offensive tools much like Sandra Simmons but much more fast. She is the definition of a versatile slapper, girl can drop a bunt easily and slap it over the wall.

Georgia produces a lot of talent, I am not sure how they always seem to escape Georgia, it makes no sense.

You and Handicap 18 are great softball information sources, the "bhs" guy too.

I don't take it for granted.

If I am not mistaken, H-18 is a successful HS SB HC in Texas so he gets to see the development of prospects.

All in all, I really enjoy reading your information, when I take part in softball discussions, I may not tell participants about my sources, but I act like I know what I'm talking about

Thanks to yall.........

Big News on LSU recruiting Trail today!

LSU makes the final cut for 2021 Prospect McKenzie Redoutey who plays for Georgia Impact. She is the #8 player in the class of 2021, she batted over .520 her Freshman year while smashing 24 homeruns and 11 doubles.

She is expected to move into the top 5 in the next update, would be a major catch for this program if we can pick her up!

Also LSU is also a finalist for Sydney Osada, #34 recruit for 2021, Pitcher.

Well in the future, but future is bright............

Seems like softball players commit well in advance and seem to stick with their commitments

I feel like with women sports, athletes tend to be more straight forward. A lot commit then strictly focus on their development. Not so many headcases committing then decommiting for national attention. Now a days, specifically softball and gymnastics, if you don't jump on these players sometime their freshman year in HS it'll be extremely difficult to pick up. Recruiting starts really early now a days for a lot of sports.

But every so often players do have a change of heart and do flip, a lot can happen due to personal circumstances, coaching changes, etc...

I despise the idea that we are recruiting and getting commitments from players who are 2021 graduates. That's too damn early!!

But it's the way our sport works now and if we are to get the best kids in to LSU, then that's what we have to do. It's just a shame that the rules don't prohibit this, but if we want to compete, then our coaches have to get out there and do it too. Our coaches do an awesome job of recruiting for sure.

I just hate the way recruiting goes now because what happens if that kid who committed in 8th or 9th grade fails to improve? What happens to a late bloomer who gets really good her senior year? I've had several players who didn't have a chance to be a college player when they were freshmen, but ended up to be very capable Division 1 players their senior year. Yet these girls get forgotten and that's a shame.

I have one of those at my high school now. We already have a couple of D1 commits, but we have a 2018 grad who has really stepped it up and is getting NO offers to D1 schools. I hate to see the discouragement in her eyes when college coaches ignore her.

Yup, everything is literally determined it seems by the end of your sophomore year. Most are committed that far in advanced. The late bloomers really do get the short end of it since everyone else is essentially filled up by then.

If I am not mistaken, the NCAA is trying to change recruiting rules for Softball and Gymnastics more so, these two sports recruit at much younger ages than anyone else.

To be fair with gymnastics, its a younger person sport. Athletes are really in their prime between 14-16 so you see much more activity on the recruiting end here.

It's not softball or gymnastics that has caused issues in the past, but women's basketball. A few years ago at NFCA convention I sat in on a spirited discussion amongst the D1 coaches complaining about the very early commitments. The talk was at the time that the NCAA wouldn't adjust the timelines for one sport, but for all women's sports together. They knew that this wouldn't fly with the Kim Mulkeys & Geno Auremmas of the world.

I keep hearing there are changes on the horizon. I just don't know if it's going to be just softball or all women's sports. Too much politics involved for my tastes.

This is why I admire our LSU softball coaches so much. They are on the road so much in the fall and summer crisscrossing the USA to evaluate talent at some of these huge national showcases. One of our coaches asked me once how come I never moved to college coaching and i said that I didn't want to be away from home so much.

So I was playing around on youtube and a friend texted me that someone "called Sunseri the next Barnhill"

Basically someone is calling her the next great college pitcher who "pitches illegally"

So I type in Sunseri on youtube, then this pops up

LINK

"Shelbi Sunseri Next Barnhill. Illegal pitching"

Guess someone is bitter
