The video shows just one pitch?? Ha ha ha!

I've seen her throw in high school several times and she's no more illegal than anyone else. Sounds like sour grapes by the poster.

The late bloomers go to JUCO or CC etc then transfer into a D1 after 2 years.

The 4 year scholarship is supposed to help in some ways. Coaches have to offer the same % the players Freshman and Senior years but it can be different the Sophomore & Junior years. So if a coach offers a kid 4 years at 100% and they don't pan out, then that's a lot of wasted money. It is supposed to be very hard to reduce the scholarship the way it is setup now. Not sure if it will actually work to reduce the recruitment age, but I'd bet it increases transfer activity at least.

Of course LSU can recruit. With our national brand, facilities and budgetary commitment we will always have top 10 classes.

The weakness of this LSU staff has been and continues to be development and management of players. I'm not even sure that can be disputed. How many position players have gotten better since they entered the program? We often have players regress. We have been blessed to have Fico, Mack, Hoover, Waljasper and Smith the last 6 or 7 years. We have not been good on the position player side as a whole and we haven't seen great advancement from these top recruits.

Player management is also a weakness and the refusal to bench bad players has cost us one really good player this year. The same can be said for Smith leaving. It was not about playing time with her but instead management style and relationship. The overall management/communication strategy this staff utilizes with the roster almost cost us quite a few more. Some things really need to change in the staff-player relationship model.

I watched the incoming transfer in travel ball and she must be a late bloomer. She was not a very good prospect coming out of high school. As bad as Quinn was the last three years Quinn did have some athletic ability to make some plays that others might not be able to make.

The transfer does not have this ability (I hope I am wrong). She is a stationary defender with below average speed, arm strength and defensive range. She may hit for some power but the JUCO level of pitching is low to mid level travel ball caliber and a far cry from D1 level pitching. She is not the answer from a high end ability standpoint but we desperately need depth up the middle with Dawson leaving.

Let's hope the staff and players continue to get better. Once good players are on the roster, we have to keep them and that starts with the relationship the staff builds.

I am not saying she will be the answer but I will remain optimistic that Schulte can turn into a very good player for us. I know Juco doesn't play the best talent at all but when half the Pac 12 schools, including Oregon and UCLA and even Utah recruit her extremely hard, there has to be something they can see in this girl. She isn't an all star defensively, but she isn't horrible either. What I think most major programs love about her is she has extremely quick hands and has a beautiful swing too. Her change in approach offensively has quickly turned her into the most explosive player offensively this year at the Juco level.

If she can hit .300 I will be extremely happy, I know she won't put up the numbers she did this past year but she does have the tools and ability to put up major numbers.

Schultes apparently completely changed her swing and adjusted her mechanics this past off season and met with a couple of the best hitting coaches in the country, I think Gasso was one of them. She did a complete 180 with her bat and she is now a completely different player.

Should be exciting to see the competition this fall with a lot of the younger girls.

Got a feeling a lot of the freshman will be utilized in major ways next season.

Sanchez was a very high recruit according to you sir and she couldn't sniff .300 this year, but you're hoping a CC transfer will pull it off?

As for the talk of our recruiting. Football games and showing off football equipment (weight room etc) is a huge sale. Tiger Park is beautiful, but as for softball facilities, we are behind quite a few lesser programs. The indoor hitting facility was supposed to be finished 2 years ago and it hasn't even broke ground.

Staff/Player management cost us 3 very good players this year. It almost cost more, but it's hard to give up 100% athletic money scholarships even when you only played in a handful of games.

Sanchez was ranked in the top 60 by all softball recruiting analysts. She was recruited by Georgia, Georgia Tech, FSU, MSU, South Alabama, and Kentucky. Not every recruit pans out, shite happens. I am not making excuses but its not like Beth recruited a nobody. She was highly regarded by most major programs. The only reason she didn't get more traction was due to her size.

I've watched her play for two years before coming here and she looked the part for sure. She did extremely well internationally as well between the junior national team and the main national team for Puerto Rico. She looked very solid her freshman year in her limited at bats. I don't know if the chemo treatments and the constant missing of practice for health reasons were the reasons for her struggles this year. Maybe she isn't exactly what everyone hoped. Maybe its the lather of the two.

Czechner was a juco recruit and was extremely solid for us. Not an all star but very good.

Springfield and Andrews weren't top 200 recruits and yet they came in and did a lot of very good things. Springfield has 17 extra base hits, 10 homeruns. Andrews hit like .340. All I am saying is you never know how it will go until they take the field. Not saying she Schulte will be an all star but i think it would be silly at this point to write her off. Lets see what happens.

Hell, for all we know, Goff could be LSU's biggest freshman impact next season. You never know until it all works itself out.

I know Sanchez wasn't very good at the plate this year but to be fair, everyone else didn't look the part besides Landry. Serrett hit .300 her freshman year and slid back this year in average, as well as Quinn. Not sure why everyone seemed to trend backwards but it paints a bigger picture than just individuals specifically is what I am saying.

Dawson is at Baylor now.

357:

I completely understand what you're saying. I have never been impressed with her as a player, even back to the travel scene. She's serviceable imo, that's it.

I don't keep up with releases and players social media. I just know what I know from reputable sources.

She visited at least 2 schools. Baylor offered $$$ and a chance to play 2B

You can't always keep everyone happy!! Top programs deal with this stuff every year....it's just part of the process. Now that we are consistent WS participants you can expect more of this. I'll take it if we continue to have success. Torina has done a top notch job and has been the best LSU coaching hire since Nick Saban and that's saying a lot because Les Miles and Paul Manieri are top coaches. Need to wait and see with Will Wade but I think he will be a HR hire. Im so glad we hired Beth instead of the gay Bama coach.

I thought that once Dawson left for Wacko, that would be the end of having to read educote and all of his alters post on this site.

Yes, because it is always worth losing an All American caliber player so we don't have to read the post of retards on the Rant. If only rational people were allowed to post on this board.

Do y'all think the admins will allow for a recruiting sticky for softball. It would have all of 2018, 2019, 2020 commits as well as future recruiting targets.

I've been wanting to put this together so all recruiting material can be kept together and easy to find!

It would be cool to have a sticky.

And while you may not believe me, I am not Mr Ducote. I do not know Mr Ducote, nor anyone in his family. In the end it doesn't matter much, but you can check all of the comments I've made about the transfers. I've told zero lies sir.

I was referring to Ashlyn as I'm tired of reading his crap complaining how she was misused and abused by our staff. I replied to you by mistake. My apologies.

Educote is the Russians. Hahaha, every time someone post a truth that doesn't fit the pumper narrative it must have come from an educote alter because he is the only one that would dare say anything challenging the program.

Yes, the LSU staff should be embarrassed by the way they managed and handled a few players this year. If a born and bred, purple and gold, local star that has dreamed of playing at LSU her entire career wants out that should give you some hints about reality. It was surreal watching some of the players on this years roster sit behind a couple of the worst players in SEC history on one of the worst infields in the SEC without receiving any opportunity to compete for the job.

That aside, Smith & Dawson are the least of the concern with the internal problems on this team that need to be worked out. We know about the three leaving and I wish them all luck. What most don't know is the teetering internal implosion due to the way this staff handles and treats players.

Hopefully, it will get better and if doesn't the exit will continue and the decline will follow. The staff has to make adjustments and hopefully this year was a wake up call and they will. So I hate to break your heart but I will be around to share more opinions regardless of the status of educote.
