I think this is just a subculture that I have trouble relating to.
It was pretty much the start of the SJW movement. Basically chicks... I mean just Anita Sarkeesian, who has been recorded earlier saying she doesn't like games, basically formed an SJW movement over Laura fricking Croft and demanded that women in skimpy clothes as well as coming into any particular harm should be banned. Some companies started to cave for non-gamers. This pissed off a lot of males, and then they started getting political and combatting these assholes, and eventually won. It was the start of the YouTube politician. They turned their gaming channels into political channels as a response.
