frick this. Just got the email a few minutes ago.

Let's see, I'm currently paying $0.076 per GB but you want to charge me $0.2 per GB in overages. I just did some figuring and I would have paid $120 in overages last month, on top of my $80 internet bill. And cox is the only provider in my area. frick them with an aids dick

10+ hours a day

10 hours per day of HD streaming total is not hard to surpass on a house full of devices. In the last week alone, I've watched the CWS for a couple of hours per day with the multi stream on one device and the espn feed on the other.

If you manage to use 1TB of data a month you need to rethink your life. That's an astounding amount of data.

On the other hand, it's bullshite that they are capping it
Or, maybe, we like to have watch parties for things like the LSU game tonight and almost all of football season. That can include over 8 people with all of their phones connected, and four different games streaming for over 12 hours straight.

Not to mention I live with a damn nerd who's always on his mega computer playing online games with other damn nerds.

You still would need each of those using the internet like 10+ hours a day
Netflix recommends 25mbs minimum for their 4K content. That's over 11 GB per hour. There's nearly 700GB per month right there just for one TV watching 2 hours per day.

Add in YouTube, gaming, email, web browsing... any techie could easily blow through 1TB in a month.

Have a family with a wife and a couple of kids and you're fricked with only 1TB per month.

Yep we have Sling Tv and my wife will leave it on all day for the background noise. Streaming high definition football games all day uses a shite ton of data.

I don't blame them. They have to do what they have to do as a business to keep up with the times.

I haven't received anything about this and I've been hovering right over 1tb/month.

ETA: and before any Cox rep tries to tell you any differently and spew off this bullshite about how 1 TB is "more than enough for the vast majority of customers," rest assured this is a big "frick you" to cord-cutters who stream instead of paying twice if not thrice as much for shitty cable.

thats too bad

if affordable streaming were more readily available to the thugs in nola, maybe they'd be binge watching house of cards instead of robbing tourists
