i completely ran the tank dry, and am only filling up with nonethonal fuel from now on.
UPDATE
I have decided to go ahead and invest in a new carb. i am seeing about 50/50 pf jeep people running either Weber 32/36 and Motorcraft 2100/2150.
I think have decided to get a 2100 from the ebay guy, i have bee reading way more good reviews than bad from him. does anyone have anything that wold push me away from this.

My CJ and a friend's both ran like new jeeps after the motorcraft swap. We both purchased from the ebay guy. YMMV. Good luck.
