Fuel filter definatley worth a check.
Don't forget about the screen inside the fuel tank. I got some shite gas in an old impala and it woukd run great until last quarter of a tank. The trash in the tank fouled the fuel pump screen. It was a pain in the arse to figure out. Only did so after pressurizing the fuel system back into the tank. Hooked fuel back and it ran great until trash blocked the screen.

Had the same problem in a 87 Nova. I put dual in line filters on it, Seafoamed the dickens out of it, and wouldn't put anything in it but 100% gasoline. I still never let it get below 1/4 tank before filling up. It ran great as long as I didn't let it get below 1/4 tank.
