What year? I have a 78 Wagoneer and had a similar problem. The rubber diaphragm in my fuel pump was not designed to handle ethanol, so every few years the pump was going out.If you are running ethanol, stop running it or run an electric fuel pump rated for ethanol.

Never put ethanol in your CJ or any carb'd vehicle. Bad news.
