iPhone 6 question regarding Touchscreen issue

So my touchscreen decided to become unresponsive just now. I'm going to try and reset the thing in iTunes and use the backup from a few days ago, but I need to turn off Find My iPhone first.
Problem is, I need to actually touch my fricking screen on my phone to do that.
Any ideas? Is there a way to access that and turn it off so that I can reset the phone or am I stuck call Apple? I don't use iCloud at all so I have nothing set up like that.

Log onto iCloud.com and use your iTunes login. I don't use iCloud either, but from that site you can access/edit mail, settings, calendar, and Find iPhone. Should be able to turn it off from there.
ETA: If that doesn't work you might try appleid.apple.com. You can also log in there and see connected devices. There may be a way to turn it off from there.

Any idea where to find that there? I did login there but don't see that anywhere...thanks!
Only seeing stuff like editing payment info, basic personal info like address, etc, devices, security.

You should be presented with this screen when you log into iCloud.
Try Settings, then select your phone under "My Devices". Then "Lost, sold, or gave away this device?" There's a drop down list under Find My iPhone in the left pane. Looks like you can remove it from there.

Thanks...what a pain in the arse if the screen goes down. Appreciate the help...here's hoping it actually fixes the screen issue when I restore!

You could pay $60 or so any buy a refurbished screen assembly, and DIY install it.

Let me know if you find out the trick to make it work again. Mine did the same thing this morning and I even went to AT&T store and the guy was stumped on why it won't allow or enable fingerprint.

so my phone is headed for repair and I'm without my phone for about a week or so.
BTW...I had to eventually take it to a local repair place that I've brought other things to with great success, and he took one look at it, asked if I'd seen a grey flickering bar at the top (which I had when trying to get it to reboot) and he said it's Apple's issue and that I'd be better served just having them fix it/replace it.

Yeah it is an Apple issue and they won't own up to completely acknowledge it. They fixed the hardware issue on the newer models. It is not related to software and restoring will not solve the problem.
The only way to fix it temporarily is to flex the phone and hope to temporarily reset the connection in the phone.

It is a very common issue with the iPhone 6 and especially 6 plus. Apple will now own up to it now if you are persistent.
My wife paid for repair and went through several refurbs with the same issue. Finally apple offered to replace the 6 plus with a 6s plus or a 7 plus with an upgrade fee.
When you deal with apple, try to ask for a senior advisor .

The issue comes from a faulty chip that is not soldered correctly (bad design) this can be fixed properly but not many shops can do it right

This will not fix that issue . This issue is on the motherboard
