Blacks vs. Blue
Blacks vs. Whites
Republicans vs. Democrats (very evident here)
Etc, etc

Imo, the only us vs them that is legit is citizens vs politicians.

There has literally never been a point in human history where groups havent opposed each other.

The people YOU vote for are the ones who deal in identity politics and love to fan the flames

If you're trying to say there's a huge divide between the right and the left then I'd agree with you.

However

Don't confuse the GOP with the right. The DNC is becoming more and more identified with the left though.

It is easier to gain power when you can divide and conquer. Then it is easier to stay in power if you can use your conquered minions to attack someone else's conquered minions.

evolution created a very strong in/out group bias in our brains

with government, we're also talking about the ultimate earthly authority over us, so we become very opinionated. some people are willing to be slaves in certain areas but not others (and vice versa). so we have groups dedicated to securing the power we want and trying to eliminate those who want power over areas we refuse to cede

2 reasons

1. Greed: poor people want to steal from the rich
2. Tribal homogenization instinct: humans have a genetic need to force full assimilation into the 'clan' to insure harmony and survival.

All revolutions, wars, upheavals, or whatever can be traced to one of these two motives. Destroy what is not like you and take from others who have more. Both basic survival instincts.

Live and let live is just not human nature.
