Been toying with the idea of getting a kamado for a while. Got a bonus and a refund check yesterday along with a shite day at work. Got in touch with my feminine side and did a little retail therapy . Opted for the Big Green Egg. No stand, just the table nest for use with a wooden table. I've got rough plans, but was wondering what the OB has come up with.

Probably going to stay rather small (48" long) due to a nook in the patio where I will put it. Going to have caster wheels to move it around. Don't have great set of finishing tools like a router or anything.

It's a large egg

That table needs to be built stout and the caster wheels need to be heavy duty. Don't install a wood top, you will end up betting burn marks on it

In laws got the table bge sells and that thing is a piece of crap.

Theirs doesnt move so I'm building one out of concrete blocks with concrete countertops.

Going to paint it white and stain the concrete tops some brownish color to try to match their decking.

Stupid rain making it take forever.

I built one (Painted official LSU Purple and Gold) and it's worked out really well. It cost around $100 to build, 12 beers and a weekend.

Anyone have or seen a triangle table I would like to back mine up into the corner of my porch. But don't won't to build a permanent one there because it's out in the elements

This is what I ended up with. Could have just bought one after taking two stabs at the table top. Tried with my jigsaw at first, but the cut was too nasty (curved ends that I decided weren't worth the hastle the second time ). More wood and a new router really put it over the top (would have been about 120 otherwise). But at least I got to bitch, moan, and sweat my arse off in the garage

Almost every table I see has 4x4's for legs. I can brace up the shelf more, but I just can't see that I need it. I've stood in there and bounced around and I'm at about 180 right now. Felt solid to me. Can't see why 2x4s couldn't hold ~200 lbs total.

Can't get the image to load (maybe someone else can) but I'm building one similar to this one I found in the Kamado Guru forum. Mine will be a little bigger to house a 2 burner grill also.

Complete build thread and material list here

This guy does great work and did a great job documenting the build.
