Launch at lighthouse bayou. There is a kayak launch there with parking and everything. It's at the very corner of Cape San Blas. The road will turn back toward Mexico Beach and there will be a rock wall on the gulf side, it's across from there.

Lots and lots of grass flat areas, look for the holes in the grass from old bombing runs. Be wary of the tides or you could be doing a lot of dragging the kayak.

There is also a decent place right off Mexico beach with some flats. There and the area in front of the marina.

The bay is loaded with sharks so be careful if you're wade fishing. I had a 6-7ft bull shark bust mullet about 10 feet in front of me.

Lighthouse bayou and the other place I mentioned

ETA: there is also crooked island sound that is on the base. They have a hidden road to a launch here.

Awesome. Thanks for the info, everyone. I'd looked at some of these places on google maps. The majority of my time is going to spent right in Mexico Beach with the fam, but hopefully I can manage to drive to a couple of spots before we leave.
