I am pretty sure over the last 40+ years, LSU is SOLIDLY in the top 25 schools for basketball recruiting,

Depends on how it's measured I'd imagine. There have been a few great players/classes, mixed with A LOT of very lean classes.

vandy is not.

People would have just as much ground to raise eyebrows at this candy class as they would this Lsu class.

LSU getting great players is not an anamoly, it has happened for years.

Mostly from that state of Louisiana.

We always have 5+ players in the NBA in any given year, not a hell of a lot of schools can say that.

Not a direct correlation to recruiting success. Garrett temple and tyrus Thomas were not big recruits. Jaime Lloreda did nothing in the NBA.

Personally, and I think some logical people may agree, Will Wade the recruiter is still very much to be determined.

- Smart is from right here in Baton Rouge area. We know e can get good players from here. Nonetheless, it's ALWAYS a good job to keep the elite talent at home, as very recently Robert Williams got away...

- Emmitt Williams literally just about EVERYONE backed off on during his arrest and ordeal, leaving the door wide open for us to keep more contact open and "show him the love" when he wasn't getting it from really anywhere. I feel like this recruitment could have gone much different had that arrest not happened. Not saying we dont land him if that doesn't happen, but you could argue one of the worst things to happen to Williams was one of the best things to happen in our recruitment of him.

- Naz Reid, his girlfriend plays on the women's basketball team here, no doubt in my mind that played a gigantic role in him coming here, do not see him coming here without that thing in particular being in our (and Wade's) favor

- Days was a really good land for wade, seemingly with no real connections like Reid, Smart or a situation like Williams had. Now, UF didn't offer him, so that certainly helps when the flagship basketbal state school ignores a guy in their own town, but in the end he had a ton of offers and he chose us.

This is not to damper what Wade has accomplished here in in his short stint, just pointing out how we wont know about will wade the recruiter truly for a while. The way the 2019 class is beginning to take shape, it will be a handful of kids in that 100-200ish range or so, not a class full of Top 50/75 guys like this one.

Quite frankly it doesn't matter one bit if a great player is fom LA or the moon. Just off the top of my head (for sure I am omitting some) these are players that virtually EVERYBLANKINGBODY recruited, yet chose the correct school.
Kenny Higgs, Rudy Macklin, Howard Carter, Pistol, Ice Reynolds, Tito Horford, John Williams, Fess Irvin, Chris Jackson, Stanley Roberts, Shaq, Randy Livingston, Ronnie Henderson, Stromile Swift, Anthony Randolph, Big Baby, Tasmin Mitchell, Jarrell Martin, Johnny O'Bryant, Ben Simmons, Antonio Blakeny, Naz Reid, Javonte Smart, Lester Earl. Hardly few and far between. I am also not sure how highly rectuited Bob Petit and Joe Dean were, but I would imagine they make the list also. I doubt there are a dozen schools that could compete with the quality of that list. LSU getting great recruits is like the sun rising in the east every morning.
