not quite

but my family's land hit oil about 10 years ago. a solid 2-3 years of 6-figure royalty for some family members

my aunt and uncle wasted so much of that money. they became "wine experts" (after a leisure learning class at McNeese, lulz). they dropped like $3k on a plasma TV when it would be sub-$1k in a few months (Because they had to have the best and be able to tell people how they spent so much). did cruises, blah blah blah blah

lived like royalty of Jeff Davis parish for a few years

didn't pay taxes

now have a $200k+ tax lien that's basically screwed their kids out of any inheritance

simply amazing

My old roommate had a $1200/month car note while making $33k at Chase Bank.

He had to get a 2nd job as a waiter to pay the note.

He just graduated with his MBA at LSU. He wants to be in finance.

I'm horrified at the thought of him managing anyone's money.

gotta fake it to make it

How is this even possible? Did he go through a buddy at Chase to finance his vehicle?

Also, what kind of vehicle is he financing at $1200/mt.

Nothing worse than the guy who thinks because he pinches all his pennies and saves he is better than someone else. I would rather be the guy who saves 20-25% then spends the rest enjoying life, than the guy who saves every dime while not doing a damn thing worth talking about.

I guess I'm poor, then.

But then again all my $ goes to retirement, my kids education funds, and paying off bills that give them a pretty damn good quality of life.

While he makes probably double that, my step-brother has convinced himself and his wife that he makes $200k, plus.

Sounds like a great foundation for a future divorce. If anything you should tell your wife you make LESS than what you actually make. Huge mistake by him.

no...

a 30k millionaire is someone who is worth about 30k, but drives a german car, wears designer clothes, etc.

eta: they might make 150k. income has nothing to do with it.

I make more then what my tax returns/pay studs with my hobby.. Actually could quit my job and just do my hobby now (x2 the income), but I like the steady income and having somewhere to go.

Outside of the telling people how much you spent on something, what is wrong with that life?

What's wrong with having to work a shitty job full time when you're 73 yrs old b/c you can't afford to retire? Are you serious?

I take vacations and buy things I want, but I don't need to go out and buy the new 70" 4k tv when my 60" LED works just fine. Thats how these people were. $4,000 stainless steel fridge that wouldn't fit in the space in their kitchen, so they put it in the laundry room and then walked everyone in there to show it to them.
Oh and his wife is still alive, elderly, can barely walk and now can barely get by on the social security. Great idea
