A house is being built next to my house and I'm not a fan of waking up to hammers and bulldozers. What ear plugs have you found to cancel out sound?

Just about any soft foam plug will do. Just look at the decibel rating to get the most effective ones.

ETA: be sure you get the foam and not the soft plastic type. You don't want to roll over and jab your ear drum.

I got these awhile back and they work great. I just cut the little stems down and I'm able to lay my head on the pillow with no issues.

My wife sleeps with plugs in, and she has some I found for her that are 33 dB rated. I've tried them at the range, and they are comfy for long spells, and she never complains about them hurting even leaving them in overnight every night.

When I worked in the plants and offshore, I used to stash these away like they were gold.
These are 3M brand.

Rubber and Foam are both uncomfortable as shite after a while. Buy these that mold to your ear and you'll be much happier.

You can get them at any drugstore.

Just look for the ones with the highest NRR (Noise Reduction Rating). Foam plugs take out noise across the widest frequency band.

Howard Leight has always made excellent plugs. I prefer the Howard Leight Max plugs (NRR 33). Get the uncorded ones (you will just have to pull the cord off anyway to sleep).

Moldex makes excellent plugs, as well. Their Softies have an NRR of 33 and are very soft and comfortable.

Just remember...if you have a small ear canal, standard sized foam plugs can be uncomfortable (putting extra pressure on the ear canal). Ear plugs do come in different sizes.

When the hammering and bulldozing starts early int the morning, just walk out of your house with a shotgun and fire a couple shots up in the air. Shite will stop quick.
