He ran a 9.82 in the Semis, breaking the previous record of 9.89. LINK
He will have a chance to break it again on Friday in the finals. Coleman has put together an incredible season. In the indoor season he won the 60 and 200 meters, tying the NCAA record in the 60 with a 6.45, which is .06 off Maurice Greene's world record, and the 6th fastest time ever. He was also .01 seconds from the NCAA record in the 200 meters indoors.
His 9.82 is faster than the career bests of Olympic silver medalist Andre de Grasse (9.91) and world bronze medalist Trayvon Brommell (9.84). He's gone under 10 seconds at least 6 times this year. He also ran a 4.12 40 in that gimmicky video a few weeks ago, although I have no doubt he would easily defeat anyone who has ever run the 40 at the combine.

Three sub-10's and about five more that were a nipple hair away from it as well. Is that normal for the NCAA final or is the track just running fast?

This guy ran the 4x100 in Rio, right?

quote:Since he broke the record, doesn't that mean he necessarily posted the fastest time of the year? So it would go without saying? Wouldn't it be impossible to break the record and not have the fastest time of the year?
