Honeymoon Planning-Caribbean/Latin America/South America

I'm in the early stages of planning a honeymoon in October, 2017. We're looking to go somewhere new, which knocks out Costa Rica and the BVI.
There needs to be a beach and we'd like it to be somewhere that we can leave the resort or hotel in relative safety and do some exploring via rental car, on bike, in a taxi or on foot. I'm having a hard time finding somewhere that meets these criteria.
It would be great if the place was SPG.
Any recommendations??? TYIA.

Piggybacking your thread for the suggestions, but I'm looking at the same general area for about 9-12 days over Christmas and New Years.
Where are you leaving from?
Cheapish(sub $1000) and short flights(~6hours) from Nola to be had for Ecuador, Belize and Haiti. I have really no clue about these places but just starting to look into the area.
We have about 350K chase UR points we are looking to use but not a requirement. I feel like a lot of these countries don't have that many chain resorts. I would prefer a villa style anyway.

First off, why are you getting married during football season?
and look into the Cayman Islands. I think Southwest flies there now.

Duh.
What about Curaçao or Roatan? I have no reason for saying those other than I have heard good things about both. Both look great to me, but I have no idea if they fit all of your criteria.
ETA: Where would you be flying out of?

New Orleans or Gulfport. I'll have to look into Ecuador, and I am definitely looking at Belize. Any hotel recs? I'm not sure we can get off of the reservation in Haiti.

Because November is hunting season, and there is a hierarchy.
Football season was taken into consideration: Ole Mss is at Auburn (and poster above is right, we suck-no one I know will travel to that game); USM is at UTSA (they have a hard enough time traveling across town to a game, much less to San Antonio); Miss. State is off. I was pretty amazed we got the church and reception venue we did taking into account the football schedules. Also-I made sure that there are going to be plenty of TV's in the bar at the reception for football fans.

I'll have to look into that. If SW makes the flight direct out of MSY, even better. Can you recommend any hotels, resorts, etc.?

The Caymans isn't flooded with resorts like say the Bahamas, and i've never been. I don't think there are any all inclusive resorts there.
I'm looking at going there next summer for our 10 year anniversary. From what i've read, it's very safe. Sounds a bit uppity. Has some of the best snorkeling and scuba diving around and plenty of land exploring to do.
I only mentioned it b/c you talked about being able to explore and feeling safe, and i got that feeling, albeit from reading about it, about the Cayman Islands. But if you're considering Ecuador, then not sure how serious you are about being safe.

Just thought I would look into it. Is it unsafe?

Maybe look at Puerto Rico? If there for a week could spend a few days In San Juan/the old city and a few at one of the resorts. Pretty sure there is a St Regis resort on the beach.

Turks & Caicos fits your description perfectly and is incredibly easy to get to.

Update: I booked a stay at the W Retreat & Spa on Vieques Island, PR. It met all of the criteria I was looking for, and it's actually recommended that you rent a Jeep and explore the island while you are there-so I booked one for 4 days.
