It turns into a joke because it's Phil Robertson and Duck Commander (which is sad, becauss those guys really know what they are talking about), but this isn't terrible advice.

Use a simple word like "Ten". Even Dud Faulk, on his "How To" tapes/CDs, taught to use a word to understand the proper breathing technique for blowing a duck call.

I don't say "Ten" into a duck call anymore, haven't in years, but the breathing is the same.

And don't believe all those bullshite "feed calls" you will hear online or at competitions. No duck sounds like a machine gun.

Every call blows differently too. Some are easier to learn on than others in my opinion. Try some other calls. Double reed calls are easier to learn (more forgiving) on as well.
